Timberwolves Claw Past Suns in a Show of Resilience at Target Center

The Minnesota Timberwolves improved their record to 56-26 with a commanding 105-93 victory over the Phoenix Suns, who now stand at 49-33. The Timberwolves' consistent scoring across all quarters, coupled with a robust defense, ensured they maintained the lead for over half the game's duration.

The Timberwolves showcased an impressive offensive performance, matching the Suns' field goal attempts but outshining them with superior shooting accuracy. Both teams attempted 78 field goals; however, the Timberwolves capitalized on their opportunities by maintaining a field goal percentage of 45 and converting nine out of 32 three-point attempts. Their prowess from beyond the arc was complemented by an outstanding free throw percentage of 87, sinking 26 out of 30 attempts.


Defensively, the Timberwolves were just as formidable. They tallied more steals than their opponents with a total of 11 and blocked two shots. This defensive pressure contributed to forcing the Suns into committing a total of 20 turnovers while limiting them to just two points off turnovers themselves.

The bench played its role effectively for Minnesota as well, contributing a solid 17 points to support their starting lineup's efforts. The team also dominated in fast-break situations scoring an impressive fast break percentage of 80 which resulted in adding another crucial thirteen points to their tally.


On top of that, Minnesota excelled in capitalizing on second-chance opportunities by scoring thirteen second-chance points and winning key possessions that kept momentum on their side throughout much of the game.

In contrast, despite putting up a valiant effort and leading for some time during playtime due to an eight-point biggest lead early on, The Suns struggled against Minnesota's tight defense and could not maintain control as evidenced by their lower efficiency rating compared to that of The Timberwolves'. Their bench added twenty-eight points but it wasn't enough against Minnesota’s relentless attack.
