The Pelicans have shown a remarkable ability to dominate in the paint, as evidenced by their impressive 58 points in that area during their December 24th game against Houston Rockets. Despite falling short by two points with a final score of 104-106, it was clear that their strength lies within close-range shots where they boasted a 59 percent success rate from two-point range.

On December 22nd, NOP demonstrated sheer offensive power when they outscored Cleveland Cavaliers with an overwhelming victory of 123-104. Their bench contributed significantly with 40 points, highlighting not only depth but also versatility within the squad. With an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.56 and fast break points tallying up to an impressive 24, it's evident that NOP can capitalize on turnovers and transition quickly into offense.

However, it wasn't all smooth sailing for NOP as they faced Memphis Grizzlies on December 20th. Despite leading for most of the game and having a substantial lead at one point (24 points), they narrowly lost with a scoreline of 113-115. This game underscored some defensive vulnerabilities – particularly in containing fast breaks where Memphis scored efficiently.

Looking ahead to the encounter with Portland Trail Blazers, NOP must leverage its offensive prowess while tightening up defense against fast breaks. The Blazers will likely aim to exploit any such weaknesses; hence NOP's ability to control possession and maintain defensive solidity will be crucial factors determining success or failure in this matchup.
