In their last encounter with the Houston Rockets, the Pelicans narrowly missed victory with a final score of 104 to 106. Despite this loss, they demonstrated strong defensive capabilities by blocking seven shots and stealing nine times. However, turnovers were an issue as they gave up possession sixteen times.

The team's performance was more convincing during their visit to Cleveland Cavaliers' court where they secured a commanding win scoring 123 points against 104. Their offensive prowess was on full display as they shot an impressive fifty-five percent from the field and forty-three percent from beyond the arc.

However, when hosting the Memphis Grizzlies previously – their upcoming opponents – it was a close-fought contest that saw them fall just short by two points (113-115). The Pelicans led for most of that game thanks to their ability to convert inside paint where they scored fifty points.

Looking ahead to this matchup, maintaining control over turnovers will be crucial for New Orleans if they are to capitalize on their home-court advantage at Smoothie King Center. With an effective field goal percentage averaging over fifty percent in recent games, efficient shooting will also be key in overcoming Memphis' defense.
