The New York team set an aggressive tone from the start, leading by fifteen points after just one quarter. Their dominance continued throughout the game as they maintained control, never allowing the home team to lead at any point. The Knicks' offense was firing on all cylinders; they shot an impressive 49 percent from the field and an even more remarkable 39 percent from beyond the arc.

The bench contributed significantly to this win with 22 points, showcasing depth that could be crucial as the season progresses. The team's efficiency rating stood tall at 144 compared to Washington's 112, underlining a well-rounded performance by players coming off New York's bench and those in starting roles.

Defensively, New York was just as imposing. They racked up nine steals and two blocks while drawing twenty fouls which translated into free throw opportunities where they capitalized by shooting an excellent 88 percent. This defensive effort limited Washington to only five steals and three blocks in comparison.

Rebounding was another area where New York excelled; they outrebounded their opponents with a total of forty-nine rebounds - eleven offensive and thirty-four defensive - contributing significantly to their possession control throughout the game.

A pivotal moment came when New York went on an unanswered run scoring nine points which pushed their lead further out of reach for Washington. This run highlighted not only their scoring ability but also their defensive tenacity as they held Washington at eighteen points during this stretch.

Key players stepped up for New York in critical moments; whether it was sinking threes or driving through traffic for high-percentage shots in paint where they scored fifty-two points overall – sixty-two percent shooting accuracy on such attempts is nothing short of impressive.

Looking ahead, fans can catch The Knicks back in action when they host Portland Trail Blazers at Madison Square Garden on January 9th at 4:30 PM Eastern Time. This matchup will be broadcasted locally on MSG channel six hundred thirty-four and available for Trail Blazers fans on ROOT Sports NW+ channel six hundred eighty-seven dash one.
