The Madison Square Garden crowd witnessed an intense battle where the home team Knicks put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell short against the Mavericks. Despite trailing for most of the game and not leading at any point, New York's tenacity was on full display during a fourth-quarter rally where they scored 37 points. However, this late-game heroics were insufficient to close down what was once a 20-point lead by Dallas.

New York's offense was led by their ability to convert from inside the paint where they tallied up 48 points. Their shooting from beyond the arc contributed another significant chunk to their total score as they made 14 three-pointers at a respectable rate of 38 percent. The free-throw line also saw efficiency from New York; converting at an impressive rate of 91 percent though only making it there for eleven attempts.

On defense, however, New York struggled to contain Dallas' offensive firepower. The Mavericks shot an effective field goal percentage of 63 and were particularly lethal from two-point range where they hit an astounding rate of 62 percent on their attempts. Additionally, Dallas capitalized on fast-break opportunities scoring 22 points and demonstrated ball-sharing excellence with thirty assists.

One area where New York outperformed Dallas was rebounding; grabbing fifty-one boards compared to forty-six by their opponents. This included fourteen offensive rebounds which led to seventeen second-chance points for New York.

Despite these efforts and closing in within seven points late in the fourth quarter after being down by as much as twenty-one earlier in that period, it wasn't enough as turnovers plagued them throughout – totaling fourteen – which allowed Dallas to score seventeen points off those mistakes.

Looking ahead after this tough loss at home, fans can catch The Knicks back in action when they host Indiana Pacers at Madison Square Garden on February 10th at 7:30 PM Eastern Time. This game will be broadcasted locally on MSG Network channel number six hundred thirty-four and away fans can tune into BSIN channel number six hundred seventy-one dash four for coverage.
