The Madison Square Garden crowd witnessed an intense battle where lead changes occurred five times, and scores were tied on three occasions. Despite this back-and-forth affair, it was the Pelicans who managed to secure a comfortable win in the end. The home team's fans saw their squad struggle offensively, shooting only 37 percent from the field compared to their opponents' impressive 51 percent.

For the Knicks, their effort from beyond the arc was not enough as they converted only 30 percent of their three-point attempts. Their free throw shooting also lagged behind at 70 percent accuracy. On a positive note, they did manage to dish out more assists than their rivals with a total of 27 and had fewer turnovers at just 13 for the game.

Defensively, both teams blocked five shots each and were nearly even in steals with New York edging out New Orleans six to four. However, it wasn't enough to contain the Pelicans' offense which seemed unstoppable especially during crunch time in that decisive fourth quarter when they scored an overwhelming 41 points.

The rebounding battle was almost even with New York grabbing one less than New Orleans' total of 51 rebounds. The home team did manage to draw more fouls (21) but couldn't capitalize on these opportunities as effectively as desired.
