At Madison Square Garden, the home of the Knicks, both teams came out with energy but it was the visitors who quickly established dominance. The Hawks opened with a strong first quarter, putting up 33 points to the Knicks' 15. Despite a valiant effort in the second quarter where New York outscored Atlanta by seven points, it wasn't enough to close the gap significantly.

The home team's performance was highlighted by their fast break efficiency; they converted an impressive 82 percent of their fast break attempts into points, totaling 25 for that aspect of their game. However, this was overshadowed by their overall field goal percentage which stood at just 38 percent compared to Atlanta's more efficient shooting at 51 percent.

New York's three-point attempts were numerous but yielded only a modest success rate of about one-third made shots from beyond the arc. In contrast, while not as prolific from three-point range as their opponents with only ten made threes, Atlanta capitalized on two-point field goals hitting an impressive rate of about six out of ten attempts.

Rebounding was another area where New York struggled against Atlanta's prowess on boards; they were outrebounded with totals of 49 and 63 respectively for each team. This disparity contributed to second-chance opportunities where again Atlanta led with seven successful shots from fifteen attempts compared to New York’s six from sixteen.

Defensively both teams managed similar numbers in blocks and steals but it was ultimately efficiency that set them apart; New York had an efficiency rating slightly below that of Atlanta’s which stood at a solid figure indicating better overall performance on both ends of the floor by the visiting team.

Looking ahead for fans eager to support their team once more: The next game for New York will be against Orlando Magic scheduled on March 8th at Madison Square Garden starting at approximately half-past seven in evening local time. This upcoming match can be viewed live on networks MSG and BSFL for those following along from home or elsewhere.
