First Quarter

The New York Knicks started strong against the Phoenix Suns at Madison Square Garden, leading 27-19 by the end of the first quarter. Second Quarter

In the second quarter, both teams ramped up their scoring efforts. The Suns managed to outscore the Knicks 36-29 in this period, narrowing their deficit. Karl-Anthony Towns was pivotal for the Knicks with his scoring and rebounding abilities but faced stiff competition from Devin Booker of the Suns who led his team’s charge.

Third Quarter

The third quarter saw a shift in momentum as both teams struggled to maintain consistency in their shooting. The Knicks scored 21 points while allowing 25 from Phoenix. OG Anunoby's defensive plays were crucial during this period; however, turnovers began to plague New York's performance.

Fourth Quarter

Entering the final quarter with a narrow margin separating them from victory or defeat, both teams fought hard until the last buzzer. Despite Karl-Anthony Towns' impressive double-double performance and Miles McBride's offensive contributions, it was not enough to overcome Phoenix’s balanced attack led by Booker and Deandre Ayton.

Ultimately, despite leading for over half of game time and having a biggest lead of 10 points earlier on, New York fell short with a final scoreline of 106-99 favoring Phoenix Suns.

As fans reflect on this encounter through post-game thoughts New York Knicks might consider adjustments needed before facing Dallas Mavericks next at Madison Square Garden scheduled for January 19th at 5:00 PM EDT where they can catch all action live via NBC/Peacock or MSG networks.
