Can the Orlando Magic Bounce Back After Narrow Defeat at FedExForum?
In a closely contested battle at the FedExForum, the Orlando Magic's record now stands at 23-22 after a nail-biting game that ended with a score of 106-107 in favor of the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies improved their season to 18-27 with this victory.
The Orlando Magic displayed resilience throughout the game, leading for a total duration of just over seven and a half minutes and achieving their biggest lead by six points. Despite this, it was not enough to secure victory on the night. The team's offensive efforts were highlighted by scoring 48 points in the paint out of an attempted 38 shots, showing dominance inside but falling just short overall.
The Magic's shooting accuracy from two-point range was impressive as they made 29 out of 47 attempts, translating to an efficient shooting percentage of sixty-two percent from within the arc. From beyond it, however, they struggled somewhat with only nine successful three-pointers from thirty-four attempts – an area that certainly had room for improvement given their twenty-six percent success rate.
On defense, they managed to block four shots and steal possession eight times during play. However, despite these efforts and holding their opponents close in terms of efficiency – with an efficiency rating only one point shy at one hundred seventeen compared to Memphis' one hundred eighteen – it wasn't enough to prevent defeat.
Rebounding proved competitive between both teams; however, Orlando edged out slightly with forty-nine rebounds against Memphis' fifty-five. This included nine offensive rebounds which contributed eleven second-chance points for the team.
The bench also played its part effectively by contributing thirty-one points towards Orlando’s overall tally. Unfortunately though, turnovers were an issue as eleven lost possessions led directly to fourteen points for Memphis.
Looking ahead after this tough loss on foreign territory against a determined opponent who led for over thirty-seven minutes and established an eleven-point lead as their best during play - fans will be eager to see how their team responds in its next matchup.
Orlando Magic supporters can look forward to seeing if their team can rebound from this setback when they host Phoenix Suns at Kia Center on January 28th at 4:00 PM Eastern Time.
