Orlando Magic's Late Surge Falls Short Against Memphis Grizzlies' Dominant Display

In a competitive matchup that saw the Orlando Magic face off against the Memphis Grizzlies, both teams demonstrated why they are considered formidable opponents in this early season clash. The Magic, with a record of 2-1 before the game, were unable to secure victory against the Grizzlies, who matched their record post-game. The final score stood at 111-124 in favor of the home team.

Magic's Efforts and Standout Performances


The Orlando Magic showcased resilience throughout the game, particularly in the second half where they scored 68 points compared to their first-half total of 43. Despite their efforts, they couldn't overcome the deficit from earlier quarters. Franz Wagner emerged as a key player for Orlando, contributing significantly with 23 points and leading his team in scoring. His performance was complemented by Jalen Suggs who added 21 points and displayed an all-around game with seven rebounds and three assists.


Defensively, Suggs also made his presence felt by securing four steals, highlighting his defensive capabilities alongside his offensive contributions. Wendell Carter Jr., despite struggling with shooting efficiency at only 17 percent from the field, managed to pull down an impressive total of ten rebounds for Orlando.

Grizzlies' Commanding Performance


On the opposing side, The Memphis Grizzlies took advantage of their home court at FedExForum and utilized a balanced attack that overwhelmed Orlando's defense. Their offense was on full display as they shot an impressive 54 percent from the field compared to Orlando's 42 percent shooting accuracy.


Memphis excelled not just in shooting but also in facilitating ball movement which is evident from their remarkable tally of 38 assists on the night. This collective effort was further bolstered by their bench scoring a whopping 66 points showcasing depth and versatility within their roster.
