The Trail Blazers have had a rocky road leading up to this match, with a recent narrow defeat against the Washington Wizards on December 22nd, where they lost by just one point with a final score of 117-118. Despite this loss, there were positive takeaways for Portland; they outrebounded their opponents significantly with 62 rebounds to Washington's 48 and showcased an impressive second-chance points performance with 32 points. However, turnovers were an issue as they gave up possession 16 times.

In contrast, the Golden State Warriors come into this game after securing a win over POR earlier in the season on December 18th. The Warriors' bench showed depth and firepower contributing an impressive 57 points to their victory. Their field goal percentage stood at an efficient rate of nearly 53 percent from that game.

The Trail Blazers will need to focus on reducing turnovers and capitalizing on fast-break opportunities if they want to compete effectively against GSW's dynamic offense. POR's ability to dominate second-chance points could be crucial in keeping them in contention throughout the game.

Defensively, POR must find ways to contain GSW’s sharpshooters who have shown that they can maintain high shooting percentages both from two-point range (67 percent) and beyond the arc (34 percent). It will be essential for Portland’s defense not only to challenge shots but also secure defensive rebounds and limit GSW’s second-chance opportunities.

Despite recent struggles, there is potential for Portland as demonstrated by their resilience in previous games. With players like Damian Lillard who are capable of explosive scoring performances, it would be unwise for any opponent or critic alike to count them out prematurely.

Fans should mark their calendars for what is sure to be an electrifying encounter between these two teams at San Francisco's Chase Center scheduled for December 24th at 5:30 PM PST (8:30 PM EST). The action can be caught live on NBCS-BA channel number 696 or ROOT Sports NW channel number 687 depending on your location.
