The Trail Blazers started strong with an impressive first half, outscoring their opponents 28 to 38 in the second quarter. Their offensive efforts were spearheaded by their ability to convert from beyond the arc, hitting an impressive 46 percent from three-point range and totaling 18 made threes throughout the game. The bench contributed significantly as well, adding 37 points to Portland's tally.

Defensively, Portland managed to block six shots and came away with an equal number of steals. They also drew more fouls than they committed – drawing 18 personal fouls while only committing 19 themselves – which allowed them to attempt more free throws; they capitalized on these opportunities by making 81 percent of those shots.

Despite these efforts and leading for nearly twenty minutes of gameplay time with a biggest lead of nine points, it was not enough to secure victory. The Trail Blazers' efficiency rating for this game was notable at 111 compared to their opponent's higher rating of 123.

On the rebounding front, Portland dominated with a total count of 56 rebounds - including twelve offensive boards that led to twelve second-chance points. However, turnovers proved costly for them as they gave up possession nineteen times which resulted in twenty-two points off turnovers for Oklahoma City.

The Thunder showcased resilience especially in paint where they scored sixty-four points on fifty-seven percent shooting from that area. Their bench narrowly outscored Portland's reserves by one point and played a crucial role down the stretch.

Looking ahead after this narrow defeat against Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center where attendance numbered at fifteen thousand eight hundred seventy-four fans witnessed eighteen lead changes and nine instances where scores were tied; fans can look forward to supporting their team when they visit Houston Rockets next week on January twenty-fourth at five PM Pacific Time (Toyota Center).
