Trail Blazers Stumble Against Hornets at Moda Center: A Battle of Defense

The Portland Trail Blazers, with a record of 15-41, faced off against the Charlotte Hornets, who came into the game with a 15-42 record. The final score reflected the intense competition between the two teams, ending in favor of the visitors at 93-80.

In an encounter that saw both teams striving to improve their standings, it was defense that took center stage at Moda Center. Despite a valiant effort by the Trail Blazers on their home court in front of 17,888 fans, they were unable to secure victory against the visiting Hornets. The game was marked by several lead changes and times when both teams were tied, indicating how closely matched they were throughout.


The Trail Blazers' performance showcased their tenacity on defense as they managed to block four shots and steal possession eleven times from their opponents. However, it was not enough to counteract the Hornets' offensive efforts which resulted in six blocks and twelve steals. The home team's defensive rating stood at 95.4 while their offensive rating lagged behind at 83.3.

On offense, Portland struggled from beyond the arc with only three successful three-pointers out of thirty-two attempts resulting in a low nine percent conversion rate for long-range shots. Their field goal percentage also suffered as they made just thirty-three out of ninety-five attempts amounting to a mere thirty-five percent shooting accuracy.


Despite these challenges on offense, Portland showed strength inside by scoring fifty-four points in paint out of fifty-three attempts and securing twenty-two offensive rebounds which contributed to twenty-one second-chance points for them.

The bench players from both sides made significant contributions; however, Charlotte's bench edged out Portland's with twenty points compared to twenty-three from Portland’s reserves.
