In their last game against the Denver Nuggets, Portland showcased resilience in a narrow defeat, scoring 111 points and demonstrating efficiency from both inside and outside the paint. Their ability to draw fouls was evident as they capitalized on free throws with an impressive 88 percent accuracy. However, turnovers remain an area for improvement as they gave up possession 16 times.

The previous matchup with LA Clippers saw Portland put up a valiant fight in another high-scoring affair that ended 117-125. The team's bench contributed significantly with 45 points, highlighting depth in scoring options. They also managed to maintain a solid field goal percentage of 48 percent but struggled from the charity stripe with only 60 percent success rate.

Against this same Clippers team earlier in their schedule, Portland fell short once more with a scoreline of 103-116. Despite this loss, there were positive takeaways including efficient three-point shooting at 44 percent and competitive play that saw them leading for over nine minutes of game time.

As they head into Washington's territory, it will be crucial for Portland to tighten up defensively while continuing to exploit their offensive strengths such as second-chance points where they've shown proficiency recently.
