In their most recent match-up, despite scoring an impressive 119 points, they were outpaced by a Dallas Mavericks team that put up 144 points. The Spurs showed they could score in bursts with a notable second quarter where they netted 37 points. However, their defense allowed Dallas to lead for over 40 minutes of game time and build a lead as large as 41 points.

The trend continued from previous games; while San Antonio demonstrated offensive potential by scoring consistently above 100 points, their defense often let them down. They've shown particular vulnerability in containing fast breaks and securing defensive rebounds – areas where opponents have capitalized significantly.

Against Milwaukee Bucks prior to facing Dallas, San Antonio managed to keep up offensively but ultimately fell short due to defensive lapses which allowed Bucks' shooters too much space beyond the arc and inside paint.
