The San Antonio Spurs started strong with an impressive first quarter, outscoring the Mavericks by seven points. However, as the game progressed, their performance waned; they scored only 19 points in the second quarter and even less in the third with just 14 points. Despite a resurgence in the fourth quarter where they put up 28 points, it was not enough to close the gap created by their opponents.

San Antonio's offense struggled throughout most of this encounter at American Airlines Center. They shot at a mere 36 percent from field goals and were cold from beyond the arc with only a 25 percent success rate on three-point attempts. Even though they managed to sink more free throws than Dallas—11 out of 15 attempts—their overall shooting efficiency stood at just 44 percent.

On defense, San Antonio blocked seven shots and recorded eight steals but ultimately allowed Dallas to score heavily inside with a total of 60 points in paint conceded by them. The Spurs did manage to collect more offensive rebounds than Dallas (12 compared to eight), which translated into securing nineteen second-chance points.

Despite these efforts and leading for over twenty minutes during which they had built up their biggest lead of fifteen points, it was not sufficient as Dallas eventually took control for over twenty-five minutes and achieved their largest lead of twenty-nine points.

The bench contributed significantly for San Antonio with thirty-seven bench points but still fell short against Dallas' thirty-four bench points combined with superior overall team efficiency.

Looking ahead after this tough outing on Texas soil, fans can catch The San Antonio Spurs next game against Sacramento Kings scheduled on February 22nd at Golden1 Center in Sacramento. This away game will be broadcasted live on NBCS-CA channel number six hundred ninety-eight for home viewers and BSSW channel number six hundred seventy-six for those following from afar.
