Spurs Narrowly Miss Victory in Grind Against Grizzlies at Frost Bank Center

The San Antonio Spurs, with a record of 15-55, hosted the Memphis Grizzlies, standing at 24-47, in a closely contested game that ended with the visitors edging out a win with a final score of 99-97. The Spurs' efforts were not enough to secure victory despite leading for over half the game and boasting a significant lead at one point.

The Spurs started strong out of the gates, putting up an impressive 30 points in the first quarter against the Grizzlies' 18. However, momentum shifted as they struggled in the second quarter scoring only 14 points to Memphis's 25. The home team regained some ground in the third and fourth quarters with scores of 24 and 29 respectively but fell just short as both teams scored an equal amount of points (28) in the last period.


San Antonio's performance was marked by their ability to generate fast break opportunities, converting them into 24 fast break points from their total attempts. They also dominated inside, scoring more than half their points (52) in paint while shooting an efficient rate from two-point range (53 percent). Their bench contributed significantly less compared to Memphis's reserves who added a substantial number of points.

Defensively, San Antonio managed to block seven shots and came away with twelve steals during this encounter. They also had more rebounds than their opponents grabbing a total of sixty-three boards including fifteen offensive rebounds which led to eighteen second-chance points.


Despite these efforts by San Antonio Spurs players on both ends of court they were unable to maintain their lead throughout due largely because they turned over ball sixteen times which translated into twenty points for Memphis Grizzlies who capitalized on these mistakes effectively throughout match-up.
