Can the Spurs Maintain Momentum After Edging Out Pelicans 111-109?

In a closely contested battle at the Smoothie King Center, the San Antonio Spurs edged out the New Orleans Pelicans with a final score of 111-109. The Spurs, now holding a record of 19-58, managed to secure victory despite their challenging season. The Pelicans, with a stronger record of 45-32, fell just short in this encounter.

The game was marked by several standout performances from the San Antonio team. The Spurs showcased their offensive capabilities by shooting an impressive 51 percent from the field and converting on 37 percent of their three-point attempts. Their two-point shooting was particularly effective as they hit an astounding 68 percent of those shots. This sharpshooting contributed to their total points in paint tallying up to 50.


San Antonio's defensive efforts were also notable as they racked up eight blocks and nine steals over the course of play. Their defensive prowess was complemented by an efficient offense that recorded a high assist count at 34, demonstrating strong teamwork and ball movement against their opponents.

The bench played a crucial role in this victory by contributing a substantial 36 points to the team's total score. Furthermore, San Antonio capitalized on turnovers effectively, scoring 17 points off turnovers while maintaining possession for approximately eight minutes longer than New Orleans.


Despite facing tough competition from the Pelicans who led for over half an hour during gameplay and had built up a significant lead at one point with fifteen points ahead, San Antonio showed resilience and determination throughout each quarter. They managed to outscore New Orleans in both second-chance points (10) and fast-break points (14), which proved critical down the stretch.

As for rebounds, San Antonio collected forty overall with six coming offensively which helped them maintain additional scoring opportunities against New Orleans' forty-six rebounds that included eleven offensive boards.
