The previous game for the Raptors on December 24 against the Utah Jazz ended in a narrow defeat with a score of 119-126. It was a game where they led for nearly 40 minutes and had an impressive fast break performance, scoring 26 points from such plays. Their ability to capitalize on turnovers was evident as they scored 16 points off Jazz's mistakes. However, their defensive efforts were not enough to secure victory as they allowed Utah Jazz to shoot at an effective field goal percentage of 62 percent.

In contrast, during their last encounter with Denver Nuggets on December 21 at home, the Raptors fell short by nine points (104-113). Despite this loss, there were positive takeaways; notably their bench contributed significantly with 36 points and they maintained decent shooting percentages across the board.

Looking ahead at their upcoming game against LA Clippers, it is crucial for Toronto Raptors to tighten up defensively if they wish to come out on top. The offensive prowess displayed by players like Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet will be vital in matching up against Kawhi Leonard and Paul George's scoring abilities. Additionally, maintaining strong performances from their bench could prove pivotal in swinging momentum in favor of TOR.

The key battle will likely be inside the paint where both teams have shown proficiency; hence rebounding could become one of the deciding factors in this contest. Given that both teams have had similar outcomes in recent games – showcasing high-scoring offenses but struggling defensively – it might just come down to which team can make critical stops when it matters most.
