Raptors Narrowly Outscored by Wizards in High-Stakes Encounter

The Toronto Raptors, with a record of 23-48, faced off against the Washington Wizards, who held a 13-58 record. In a closely contested battle at Capital One Arena, the final score read 112-109 in favor of the home team.

The Raptors started strong with a first-quarter lead but were eventually outpaced by the Wizards. Despite being in bonus territory and showing an impressive fast break performance with an 80 percent success rate leading to 17 fast break points, the Raptors could not maintain their momentum. The team's efficiency was notable at 113 and they led for nearly half of the game duration but fell short as their time leading ended at 30:43.


Toronto's offense was fueled by scoring 60 points in the paint and achieving a two-point field goal percentage of 52. However, their three-point attempts were less successful with only a 24 percent completion rate. The team's free throw accuracy was commendable at an impressive rate of 81 percent.

On defense, Toronto managed to block seven shots and steal nine times from their opponents. They also drew eighteen fouls which contributed to their scoring opportunities from free throws. The Raptors' defensive efforts resulted in holding the Wizards to just over one point per possession defensively.


The Washington Wizards capitalized on second-chance points with eighteen compared to Toronto's nine and outrebounded them significantly with sixty-three rebounds against fifty from Toronto. Their bench also contributed twenty-three points to support their victory.

A key moment for Washington came when they managed an unanswered run that shifted momentum in their favor; this stretch saw them score thirteen consecutive points against four from Toronto – showcasing how critical such bursts can be in close games.
