Sun Devils to Host Cougars at Mountain America Stadium in College Football Matchup
As the Arizona State Sun Devils prepare to host the Washington State Cougars at Mountain America Stadium, fans are eager to see if their team can turn around a season that's been less than stellar so far. With a 1-6 record, the Sun Devils have struggled to find their rhythm this season, but there's more to this team than meets the eye.
In their last game on October 22 against the Washington Huskies, ASU showcased a defense capable of making big plays. Despite losing 15-7, they managed two interceptions and recovered two fumbles. However, offensive inefficiencies continued to plague them as they converted only 29 percent of third downs and were held without a passing touchdown.
The Sun Devils' performance against Colorado Buffaloes on October 7 was more promising offensively. They put up 24 points with an impressive passing game that racked up 335 yards and one touchdown pass. Their red zone efficiency was perfect with four attempts resulting in four scores. Yet again though, it wasn't enough for victory as they fell short by three points.
Against California Golden Bears on September 30, ASU demonstrated resilience despite another close defeat of 24-21. The offense generated over six yards per play overall and went perfect in red zone scoring opportunities yet again; however turnovers proved costly with two lost possessions including one interception.
Looking ahead to the matchup against WST, it is clear that ASU has potential waiting to be fully unleashed. The key for them will be converting yardage into points and maintaining possession by reducing turnovers which have been a significant hindrance thus far.
The Cougars should not underestimate this hungry ASU squad who are due for an offensive breakout while continuing their opportunistic defensive playmaking seen in recent weeks. If ASU can capitalize on home-field advantage and maintain discipline avoiding penalties which cost them precious yards previously; they could very well upset WST's plans.
Fans should mark their calendars for October 28 when these teams face off under the lights at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe at midnight Eastern Time (9 PM local time). This pivotal college football game will be broadcasted live on Pac-12 Network where supporters can witness whether or not Arizona State Sun Devils can turn hope into victory.
