In a closely contested game, the Auburn defense put up an impressive performance with three sacks and six tackles for loss. They also managed to force one fumble which they recovered, adding to their defensive achievements. The defense was on the field for nearly 27 minutes but held strong throughout most of the game.

Auburn's offense had moments of brilliance but struggled with consistency. Their passing game accumulated 157 yards through the air with a completion percentage of roughly 42 percent. Despite being sacked three times, they managed to score one passing touchdown from within five yards. On the ground, Auburn rushed for 130 yards including a notable longest run that broke free for 70 yards; however, this did not result in a touchdown as their only rushing score was from one yard out.

Special teams played an integral role as well; all two field goal attempts were successful with the longest being from thirty yards out. Furthermore, kick returns contributed significantly with fifty-nine total return yards on two attempts.

Penalties were an area where discipline waned for Auburn as they incurred fifteen penalties amounting to ninety-eight penalty yards which could have been decisive in such a tight contest.
