In an intense battle on the gridiron, the Brigham Young University Cougars displayed a commendable effort but ultimately fell short against a strong Kansas team. The Cougars' passing game was notable, with their quarterback throwing for 357 yards and two touchdowns. Despite three sacks and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by Kansas, the passing efficiency remained high with an average of almost seven yards per attempt and a completion percentage rounding up to 59 percent.

The rushing offense struggled to gain traction against the Jayhawks' defense, managing only nine yards across twenty-two attempts. However, they did secure one rushing touchdown from within six yards out. In terms of scoring efficiency in critical areas of the field, BYU was flawless in both red zone and goal-to-go situations – converting all five red zone opportunities into scores and all three goal-to-go chances into touchdowns.

BYU's special teams were also effective; their kicker successfully made both field goal attempts with his longest being thirty-four yards. Additionally, kickoffs resulted in three touchbacks from six attempts.

On defense, BYU managed to sack Kansas' quarterback once for twelve lost yards and recorded four tackles for loss totaling eighteen negative yards for their opponents. However, penalties were minimal on both sides as each team committed only three infractions throughout the game.

Kansas demonstrated why they remain undefeated this season by putting up thirty-eight points on home turf. Their offense capitalized on turnovers while their defense held strong when it mattered most – preventing significant gains on third downs where BYU had just under forty-three percent success rate.

Looking ahead after this tough loss away from home soil at Lawrence's David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium attended by over forty-seven thousand fans; Brigham Young University will host Cincinnati Bearcats at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on September 29th at 8:15 PM local time (MDT). Fans can catch this upcoming game live broadcasted on ESPN network satellite channel two hundred six.
