Cougars Fall to Cyclones at LaVell Edwards Stadium in College Football Showdown

In a week 11 college football game at LaVell Edwards Stadium, the BYU Cougars faced a tough challenge against the Iowa State Cyclones. The Cougars, with a record of 5-5, were outscored by the Cyclones who improved their record to 6-4 with a final score of 45-13.

The BYU Cougars struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game. Despite accumulating a total of 318 yards, they could not translate their efforts into points on the board. The passing game saw only 11 completions on 28 attempts for a total of 130 yards and two touchdowns. However, interceptions proved costly as two were thrown during critical moments.

On the ground, BYU managed to rush for an impressive total of 188 yards over 38 attempts but failed to reach the end zone. Their longest run was an encouraging dash for 36 yards which highlighted some positive aspects in their rushing attack that averaged nearly five yards per carry.

Special teams had mixed results; while punts averaged over half-a-century in distance with one sailing as far as 61 yards, they did not significantly impact field position due to returns by Iowa State totaling up to almost half-a-century themselves.

The defense managed one sack and five tackles for loss but could not contain Iowa State's offense effectively enough throughout four quarters. Penalties were relatively low with only four infractions costing them a manageable total of just over three dozen penalty yards.

Iowa State capitalized on opportunities presented by turnovers and executed well offensively. They scored consistently across three quarters including putting up double-digit points in both first and second periods before sealing their victory with another double-digit performance after halftime.

Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars for November 18 when BYU will host Oklahoma Sooners at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo. This upcoming game is scheduled for kickoff at noon local time (5 PM GMT) and will be broadcasted on ESPN network channel number two hundred six.
