Game Highlights

The Cougars showcased an impressive offensive and defensive performance at Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium. Quarterback Jake Retzlaff led the charge with 291 passing yards, completing 61 percent of his attempts and throwing for three touchdowns. His connection with wide receiver Chase Roberts was particularly effective; Roberts racked up 129 receiving yards on six receptions.

On the ground, BYU's running game added depth to their offensive strategy. Pokaiaua Haunga stood out among the rushers with 35 yards on five attempts, contributing significantly to the team's total rushing yardage of 140.

Defensively, BYU was just as formidable. Linebacker Jack Kelly recorded a sack and contributed to one of four tackles for loss that pushed back the Cowboys' offense. Cornerback Evan Johnson made a crucial interception that halted one of Wyoming's drives, showcasing BYU's ability to suppress their opponents' scoring opportunities.

Special Teams Excellence

Special teams also played a pivotal role in BYU's triumph. Kicker Will Ferrin successfully converted two field goals, including a long shot from 49 yards out, contributing an additional six points for his team. Furthermore, Keelan Marion delivered an electrifying kick return touchdown covering 100 yards that not only boosted morale but also underscored BYU’s dominance in all facets of the game.

Penalties were one area where both teams struggled; however, it was less detrimental for BYU as they managed to maintain control throughout most of the contest despite giving up 80 penalty yards across nine infractions.
