In their last encounter with the Oregon Ducks on October 29, CAL's performance was less than stellar. Despite accumulating a total of 402 yards and scoring three touchdowns through the air, they fell short with only 24 points against Oregon's overpowering 42. Their defense couldn't manage any sacks and allowed significant yardage on both ground and air. However, one bright spot was their red zone efficiency; they scored on three out of four attempts.

The previous week's game against Washington Huskies showed some promise as well, despite another loss for CAL with a score of 21-28. The defense stepped up with two sacks and managed to keep third-down conversions relatively low at 40 percent success rate for Washington. Offensively, passing was once again a strong suit for CAL as they completed three touchdown passes.

Looking back further to October 15 against Colorado Buffaloes paints a picture of inconsistency that has plagued CAL this season. They lost by seven points in this matchup but showed tenacity in defense by forcing two fumbles and securing one interception while also recording one sack.

Against USC Trojans, it is crucial that CAL leverages its passing game which seems to be its strongest asset so far this season. The offensive line will need to protect the quarterback better than they have done previously; allowing five sacks against Washington is not going to cut it if they want to secure more touchdowns and capitalize within the red zone.

The Trojans are formidable opponents with an impressive record that speaks volumes about their capabilities on both sides of the ball. For CAL to stand any chance at victory, every player must execute flawlessly—minimizing turnovers will be key since past games show that when possession is maintained effectively, scoring opportunities increase significantly.

Fans should expect an intense battle where every play counts towards building momentum towards victory or defeat. It’s time for California Golden Bears' offense to shine through precision passing and strategic play-calling while relying on their defense's ability to disrupt USC’s rhythm.

Mark your calendars for November 6th when these two teams clash under the lights at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum starting at 7:30 PM local time (2:30 AM UTC).
