California Golden Bears Stumble at SoFi Stadium, UNLV Rebels Secure Victory

In a game that saw the California Golden Bears fall to the UNLV Rebels with a final score of 13-24, both teams showcased their strengths and weaknesses throughout the match. The Golden Bears now stand at 6-7 for the season, while the Rebels improved their record to an impressive 11-3.

Golden Bears' Efforts on Field


The California Golden Bears put forth a valiant effort in their latest outing against the UNLV Rebels. Despite their loss, several players stood out with notable performances. Punter Lachlan Wilson had a busy day on special teams, punting six times for 283 yards, including two punts inside the 20-yard line and netting 208 yards overall. This performance underscores his crucial role in field positioning throughout the game.


On offense, quarterback CJ Harris completed 65 percent of his passes for 109 yards but was unable to find the end zone. His counterpart EJ Caminong also saw action under center, throwing for 57 yards with a completion rate of just over 31 percent. The rushing attack was led by Jaydn Ott who carried the ball for an impressive average of eight yards per carry totaling up to 84 yards but like Harris and Caminong couldn't secure any touchdowns.


Receiving efforts were spearheaded by Jack Endries who caught seven passes for a total of sixty-one yards while Josiah Martin added forty more through four receptions showcasing some bright spots in California's passing game despite not scoring any touchdowns.


Defensive Highlights and Special Teams


Defensively, Teddye Buchanan made his presence felt by recording two tackles and one tackle for loss highlighting his contributions on that side of the ball along with Liam Johnson who also made significant plays including two tackles and one tackle for loss among his four combined tackles showing off defensive prowess even in defeat.


Special teams had its moments as well thanks to kicker Derek Morris who successfully converted one out of two field goal attempts from forty-three yards demonstrating accuracy from distance albeit in limited opportunities.
