Reflecting on their recent performance on September 22nd against Illinois State Redbirds, it's clear that CSU has areas needing improvement. Despite accumulating a total of 376 yards and scoring 19 points, they fell short with a loss of 35-19. The offense showed potential with an average gain per play close to five yards and three touchdowns through the air. However, two interceptions and nine penalties costing them 79 yards highlighted critical weaknesses.

The defense also had its struggles; while they didn't allow any sacks and forced one fumble, they failed to secure any interceptions or defend passes effectively. This lackluster defensive display could be exploited by SJS if not addressed promptly.

On September 15th against Florida Gators in Gainesville, CSU faced an even tougher opponent but managed only ten points while conceding 48. Their rushing game was stifled to an average of just over one yard per carry – a stat that must improve significantly if they hope to control the clock and keep their defense rested against SJS.

However, it's not all doom and gloom for CSU fans. Looking back at their home victory on September 8th over Arkansas Razorbacks provides some hope. They put up an impressive fight scoring 34 points with over five yards gained per play on average. Their passing game was particularly effective as they racked up nearly four hundred passing yards with two touchdowns.

Special teams were also noteworthy in this victory; field goal kicking was perfect with a long of fifty-five yards contributing greatly to the win margin.

The key takeaway from these past performances is inconsistency – both offensively and defensively – which must be rectified before facing SJS who will undoubtedly capitalize on any lapses in concentration or execution.

CSU needs to harness the same energy and precision displayed in their win against Arkansas if they want success at CEFCU Stadium. It's imperative that turnovers are minimized, penalties are reduced significantly, and both sides of the ball perform consistently throughout all four quarters.

Fans can catch this pivotal matchup live on CBS Sports Network (satellite channel number is two hundred twenty-one) or attend in person at CEFCU Stadium located in San Jose California zip code nine five one one two on October sixth starting promptly at seven thirty PM local time.
