The game, held at Bagwell Field at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, saw an impressive turnout with 40,589 fans in attendance. The East Carolina Pirates showcased their offensive might by accumulating a total of 366 yards. The team's rushing efforts were particularly effective as they amassed 182 yards across 44 attempts and scored five touchdowns on the ground. Their longest rush was an impressive 18-yard dash.

The passing game also contributed significantly to the Pirates' dominance. With an average of over five yards per attempt, they completed 18 out of 32 passes for one touchdown and racked up ten first downs through the air. Their longest pass completion stretched for 35 yards.

Defensively, East Carolina was just as formidable. They sacked Gardner-Webb's quarterback twice for a loss of twenty-one yards and recorded five tackles for loss totaling forty-two negative yards against their opponents. The defense also forced six fumbles from which they recovered four.

Special teams played their part too; although no punts were blocked or returned for touchdowns, three punts landed inside the twenty-yard line contributing to field position advantage.

Penalties were minimal and did not significantly impact the flow or outcome of the game; East Carolina incurred only five penalties amounting to forty-one penalty yards.

The efficiency within scoring positions was flawless for East Carolina as they capitalized on all seven red zone opportunities presented during this contest and converted successfully on both third-down (46 percent) and fourth-down (100 percent) attempts when needed.

Kicking added another dimension to their scoring with one successful field goal from within thirty-nine yards out while narrowly missing another from beyond that range.

As fans look ahead, they can anticipate watching their team take on Rice Owls at Rice Stadium in Houston on September 30th at approximately six PM Eastern Time broadcasted on ESPN+. This upcoming encounter promises to be another opportunity for East Carolina Pirates to showcase their abilities on both sides of the ball as they continue through this season's campaign.
