At Bagwell Field at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, the East Carolina Pirates delivered an impressive performance against the visiting Tulane Green Wave. The passing attack was particularly effective; quarterback play led to 302 passing yards and three touchdowns without any interceptions. A standout moment included a long pass completion that resulted in a 53-yard touchdown.

The rushing game for the Pirates also proved to be unstoppable as they racked up an additional 310 yards on the ground. This included an explosive run that broke free for a remarkable 68-yard touchdown—the longest rushing score of the day. In total, four touchdowns were scored via rushes, contributing significantly to their commanding lead.

Defensively, East Carolina showed their might by recording three interceptions and returning them for a combined total of 28 yards. Their defensive line managed to sack Tulane's quarterback twice for losses totaling 19 yards and applied consistent pressure with four quarterback hits.

Special teams had moments worth noting too; although there were no blocked punts or returns for touchdowns, one punt did land inside Tulane's twenty-yard line contributing to field position advantage.
