In a challenging football game at Lincoln Financial Field, the East Carolina Pirates were unable to secure a victory against the Temple Owls. The Pirates' offense struggled throughout the game, managing only 120 passing yards and completing just under half of their pass attempts. Despite their efforts, they failed to score any touchdowns and settled for two successful field goals from distances up to 42 yards.

The rushing attack didn't fare much better for the Pirates as they accumulated only 76 yards on the ground. Their longest run was an impressive breakaway for 53 yards; however, it did not result in points on the board. The team's average gain per play stood at a modest 2.5 yards across a total of 70 plays.

Defensively, East Carolina managed to sack Temple's quarterback twice and recorded one interception that was returned for 22 yards. They also forced one fumble during play but could not capitalize on these opportunities to shift momentum in their favor.

Special teams had moments of effectiveness with an average punt distance over forty-three yards and two kickoffs resulting in touchbacks. However, this did not significantly impact the overall outcome as they faced an uphill battle against a strong opponent.

On Temple's side, their offense proved too much for East Carolina's defense by putting up seven touchdowns throughout four quarters of play. Their defense held strong as well by limiting scoring chances and stifling Pirate drives consistently during both halves.
