East Carolina Pirates Outmaneuver Temple Owls in a High-Scoring Affair

In a week 9 showdown that saw the East Carolina Pirates improve their season record to 4-4, they decisively defeated the Temple Owls with a final score of 56-34. The Owls, struggling this season, dropped to a 2-6 record after the game. The match, held at Bagwell Field at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, was witnessed by an attendance of 33,744 fans who saw the Pirates dominate on both ends of the field.

Pirates' Offensive Onslaught


The East Carolina offense was firing on all cylinders, amassing a total of 500 yards. Quarterback Katin Houser had an exceptional game with 269 passing yards and five touchdowns while maintaining an impressive quarterback rating of 176.19. His performance was pivotal in securing the victory for the Pirates.


Rahjai Harris led the rushing attack with an outstanding performance on the ground, accumulating 130 yards and scoring once off just eleven carries. His longest run spanned 55 yards, showcasing his explosive potential every time he touched the ball.


Receiving contributions were widespread but Chase Sowell stood out with four receptions for a total of 117 yards and one touchdown. Anthony Smith also made significant contributions with four catches for 101 yards and one touchdown.


Defensive Dominance


On defense, East Carolina showcased their ability to disrupt Temple's offensive efforts significantly. The team tallied three sacks and three interceptions during the game which played a crucial role in halting any momentum built by Temple's offense.


Ja'Marley Riddle was particularly noteworthy on defense; he intercepted two passes returning one for an impressive touchdown spanning over half the field (55 yards). This not only highlighted his defensive prowess but also contributed directly to scoring points for his team.
