First Quarter

The opening quarter saw both teams testing each other's defenses, but it was NC State who managed to put points on the board first. A successful field goal gave them an early lead, setting the tone for what would be an intense battle.

Second Quarter

As the second quarter unfolded, both teams intensified their efforts. The Pirates responded to NC State's initial lead with Katin Houser's impressive passing game, which culminated in a touchdown pass to Jayvontay Conner that covered 79 yards—the longest play of the game for ECU. However, NC State countered effectively by scoring two touchdowns of their own before halftime.

Third Quarter

In this period, NC State extended their lead further by adding another touchdown to their tally. Despite ECU's defensive efforts led by Xavier McIver’s sack and Teagan Wilk’s interception return for 20 yards, they were unable to prevent NC State from increasing their advantage.

Fourth Quarter

The final quarter witnessed an exciting comeback attempt from ECU as they scored ten unanswered points through Marlon Gunn Jr.'s rushing touchdown and Nick Mazzie's field goal from 34 yards out. Despite this late surge and strong performances from players like London Montgomery who rushed for 32 yards and Anthony Smith who caught six passes for 66 yards, time ran out on ECU’s rally.

Looking ahead, fans can catch the next game when East Carolina hosts Campbell Fighting Camels at Bagwell Field at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville on September 6th at 6:00 PM EDT. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
