The Florida State Seminoles entered the Carrier Dome with a record of 0-2, hoping to secure their first victory of the season. However, they faced a formidable opponent in the Syracuse Orange, who stood at 2-0. The game concluded with the Seminoles scoring 7 and the Orange securing 30 points.

The Florida State Seminoles struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game against a determined Syracuse defense. The Seminoles' offense managed to accumulate only 208 total yards compared to Syracuse's more dominant performance. Despite their efforts, Florida State's passing game was stifled by four sacks and an interception that hindered their progress downfield.

On special teams, Florida State's punting unit was kept busy with ten attempts totaling 426 yards; however, they were unable to significantly impact field position as evidenced by an average net yardage of just over 38 yards per punt. Penalties also proved costly for the Seminoles as they accrued eleven penalties for a substantial loss of 90 yards.

In terms of scoring opportunities, Florida State had limited success within the red zone with only a fifty percent conversion rate on two attempts. Their lone touchdown came from a short rush but failed to ignite further scoring drives despite five red zone appearances throughout the game.

Syracuse capitalized on their home advantage and controlled both sides of the ball effectively. Their defense recorded three sacks and forced one turnover while keeping pressure on Florida State's quarterback consistently. The Orange offense took advantage of opportunities when presented, translating into thirty points scored including ten in the final quarter which sealed their victory over Florida State.

Looking ahead after this challenging encounter at Carrier Dome, fans can anticipate seeing whether or not Florida State can rebound from this defeat when they host Northern Illinois Huskies at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on September 22nd at 7:30 PM local time. This upcoming game will be broadcasted on ESPNU for fans unable to attend in person.
