Clash of the Canines: Fresno State Bulldogs to Battle Washington Huskies at Alaska Airlines Field

As the Fresno State Bulldogs prepare to face off against the Washington Huskies at Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium, fans are eager for a glimpse into what might unfold on September 16th. The Bulldogs, coming off a challenging game against the formidable Alabama Crimson Tide on September 9th, where they were outscored 41-10, are looking to rebound and prove their mettle.

In that recent outing in Tuscaloosa, the Bulldogs' offense struggled to find its rhythm. Despite managing a touchdown and field goal, they were limited to just 264 total yards. The passing game saw them complete 26 out of 41 attempts for 216 yards with one interception thrown. On the ground, things didn't fare much better with only 57 rushing yards from 22 carries. Defensively, they managed one sack but failed to create turnovers or significantly disrupt Alabama's offensive flow.

However, it would be unwise to judge Fresno State solely by this performance. In their season opener against Incarnate Word on September 2nd at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno, they displayed an explosive offense and an ironclad defense that resulted in a resounding victory of 66-0. They racked up an impressive total of 613 yards while keeping Incarnate Word scoreless throughout the game.

The key takeaway from these past performances is inconsistency – but also potential. Against Incarnate Word, every aspect clicked; passing was sharp with four touchdowns thrown without any interceptions and rushing contributed another four touchdowns with an average gain per carry close to five yards.

Looking ahead at their matchup with Washington Huskies – it's clear that if Fresno State can channel their opening game energy and execution rather than their struggle in Alabama – there's potential for an upset in Seattle.

The upcoming battle will undoubtedly hinge on whether or not Fresno State can establish control early on both sides of the ball. The defense will need to be aggressive yet disciplined enough not to give away big plays or penalties that could swing momentum in favor of Washington.

Bulldogs fans should look forward to seeing how Coach Tedford has prepared his team following their tough loss against Alabama Crimson Tide; adjustments made during practice sessions this week could very well dictate how competitive this game will be.
