Houston Cougars Dominate at Yulman Stadium in American Football Showdown Against Tulane Green Wave

In a decisive game at Yulman Stadium, the Houston Cougars improved their season record to 5-1 while the Tulane Green Wave fell to 1-5. The final score stood at 40-22 in favor of the visiting team.

The Houston Cougars showcased an impressive offensive performance against the Tulane Green Wave, accumulating a total of 435 yards. The Cougars' passing game was particularly effective, with a quarterback rating of 159 and three touchdowns through the air. The longest pass completion was for 36 yards, contributing to their total passing yardage of 288. On the ground, Houston's rushing attack added two more touchdowns and covered a distance of 147 yards with one rush breaking free for a notable 35-yard touchdown.


Defensively, Houston was relentless; they recorded eight sacks and twelve tackles for loss against Tulane's offense. This defensive pressure resulted in a loss of sixty yards for Tulane and contributed significantly to keeping their scoring opportunities limited. Furthermore, Houston forced one fumble during the game which they recovered themselves.

Special teams also played a role in this comprehensive victory as both field goal attempts by Houston were successful with one being from an impressive distance of forty-six yards out. Their kickoffs totaled four hundred ninety-nine yards with five resulting in touchbacks.


The efficiency within scoring positions was flawless for Houston as they capitalized on all four red zone opportunities presented to them throughout the game. They also had success on half of their fourth down attempts and converted nearly fifty percent on third downs which helped maintain drives and control possession time over thirty-two minutes.
