The game saw the Cougars dominate total yardage with 384 yards compared to the Midshipmen's effort. The Houston offense was particularly effective through the air, with their passing game accumulating 257 yards and a completion rate of roughly 71 percent. The quarterback's performance was notable, throwing for one touchdown and maintaining an impressive passer rating of about 151. On the ground, they managed to rush for another two touchdowns and achieved six first downs from rushing plays.

Special teams contributed significantly as well, highlighted by a punt return that resulted in a spectacular touchdown covering an impressive distance of 73 yards. This play undoubtedly shifted momentum in favor of the Cougars. Additionally, kickoffs were strategically executed leading to four touchbacks.

Defensively, Houston showed resilience by recording two sacks and forcing one fumble which they recovered themselves; this showcased their ability to disrupt Navy's offensive flow. Despite only three penalties being called against them for thirty yards total, it was clear that discipline played a key role in their performance.

On the other side of the ball, despite falling short on points, Navy put up a valiant effort throughout all four quarters as reflected by scoring periods which saw them lead during halftime thanks to ten points scored in the second quarter against none from Houston.

Looking ahead after this home victory, fans can mark their calendars for when the Houston Cougars will face off against Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium on October 1st at approximately 6:30 PM local time (Tulsa). This upcoming game will be broadcasted on ESPN for supporters unable to attend in person.
