First Quarter

The opening quarter saw both teams exchanging touchdowns. The Illini's quarterback Luke Altmyer connected with receiver Hank Beatty for an impressive start. However, the Trojans quickly responded with their own touchdown drive, leveling the playing field early on.

Second Quarter

In the second quarter, Illinois took control as Altmyer continued to shine by completing crucial passes that set up another touchdown. Kaden Feagin was instrumental in advancing the ball on the ground for Illinois. Meanwhile, USC managed only a field goal during this period.

Third Quarter

The third quarter witnessed an intense battle as both teams ramped up their defenses. Illinois extended their lead with a combination of strategic passing and rushing plays that resulted in ten more points on the board. A standout moment was when Dylan Rosiek intercepted a pass from USC's offense, halting their momentum and giving possession back to Champaign's Own.

Fourth Quarter

As tension mounted in the fourth quarter, USC fought back fiercely by scoring fifteen points through tactical plays and exploiting gaps in Illinois' defense. Despite this surge from SC, David Olano’s consistent kicking performance ensured that every opportunity was capitalized upon for additional points for Illinois.

After analyzing post-game interviews and conducting post game analysis from both sides, it is clear that key players like Collin Dixon made significant contributions to securing this win for Illinois through his receiving yards and first downs achieved under pressure situations.
