In an intense game at David Booth Memorial Stadium, the Iowa State Cyclones put forth a valiant effort but ultimately fell short against the Kansas Jayhawks. The Cyclones' offense managed to gain a total of 313 yards throughout the game. Despite their best efforts on offense, including completing 30 out of 48 pass attempts for a total of 287 passing yards and achieving an average gain of four yards per play, they could not secure victory.

The passing attack was led by an impressive longest completion that went for 53 yards. However, it was not enough as they only converted five out of their eighteen third-down attempts. Their red zone efficiency stood at fifty percent with two successes out of four attempts and they were successful on eighty percent of their fourth-down tries.

On special teams, one field goal was made from within thirty-nine yards but three others were missed which contributed to leaving points off the board. The kicking team managed to send two kickoffs into the end zone resulting in one touchback while accumulating a total kickoff yardage of 187.

Defensively, The Cyclones forced one fumble which they recovered themselves and sacked the opposing quarterback once for six lost yards for Kansas. They also recorded three tackles for loss totaling thirteen negative yards against their opponents.

Penalties seemed under control as only four infractions were called on them costing forty penalty yards in total; this disciplined approach did not significantly hinder their gameplay.

As fans look forward to future games, attention now turns toward an upcoming contest at Jack Trice Stadium where Iowa State will host the Kansas State Wildcats on October eighth at six-thirty PM local time (Ames). This event promises another opportunity for fans to rally behind their team as it will be broadcasted live on ESPNU satellite channel two hundred eight.
