In an intense football game at Jack Trice Stadium, the Iowa State Cyclones were unable to secure victory against the visiting Oklahoma Sooners. Despite a valiant effort by the Cyclones' offense, which amassed a total of 374 yards throughout the game, they fell short on points. The passing game was particularly active for Iowa State as they completed 37 passes for 308 yards and achieved an average gain of four and a half yards per play over an offensive play count of 84.

The Cyclones showed promise in their red zone efficiency with two successes out of three attempts translating to a success rate of about sixty-seven percent. Their performance on fourth down was noteworthy as well; they successfully converted three out of five attempts. However, turnovers proved costly for Iowa State; they gave up three interceptions during critical moments.

On special teams, both punters and kickers played error-free games without any blocked punts or missed field goals. The Cyclones' kicker was perfect on the day converting both field goal attempts with one from beyond forty yards.

Defensively, Iowa State managed to sack Oklahoma's quarterback once for fourteen yards lost and recorded seven tackles for loss totaling twenty-four negative yards against their opponents. They also forced one fumble which they recovered but could not capitalize on it by turning it into points.

The Sooners capitalized on their opportunities better than their hosts did throughout this encounter. Their defense intercepted three passes from Iowa State's quarterback and limited them to just sixty-six rushing yards over twenty-seven attempts – an average that barely exceeded two yards per carry.

As fans look forward to future games at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames IA USA where their beloved team will compete next time around; attention now turns towards preparing for another challenging opponent: West Virginia Mountaineers (WVU).
