In a closely contested game at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium, the Iowa State Cyclones faced off against the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Iowa State Cyclones showcased their offensive capabilities throughout the game. The team accumulated a total of 424 yards, with an impressive average gain of seven yards per play. The rushing department was particularly effective for the Cyclones, amassing 239 yards on 34 attempts and scoring two touchdowns, one being an exceptional 70-yard run which stood out as one of the longest plays from scrimmage in this contest.

The passing game also contributed significantly to Iowa State's yardage with quarterback throws accounting for another 185 yards. This included a remarkable pass completion that resulted in a touchdown from as far as 68 yards out – highlighting their ability to strike quickly and from distance.

Special teams played their part too; all six kickoffs by Iowa State resulted in touchbacks, ensuring no return yardage for West Virginia. Moreover, they were perfect on field goal attempts with their lone try sailing through from 34 yards out.

Defensively, while not registering any sacks or safeties during this encounter, Iowa State did manage to intercept two passes – returning one for an impressive touchdown covering some 24 yards into West Virginia's end zone.

Despite these efforts by the visiting team and leading by four points entering into halftime (17-14), it was ultimately not enough to secure victory against a determined Mountaineers squad who managed to put up fourteen points in both first and last quarters of play.

Looking ahead after this hard-fought contest under Morgantown lights, fans can anticipate seeing their beloved Cyclones back on home turf when they host Texas Longhorns at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. This upcoming encounter is scheduled for November sixth at six thirty PM local time and will be broadcasted live on FS1 network – offering supporters another chance to rally behind their team as they continue through this season's challenges.
