Key Performances and Game Highlights

The Cyclones showcased a balanced attack against the Bearcats, with significant contributions from both their offensive and defensive units. Quarterback Rocco Becht led the offense efficiently, completing 24 out of 33 attempts for a total of 234 yards and one touchdown pass. His performance was pivotal in maintaining possession and driving the team forward.

On the ground, Iowa State's rushing game was unstoppable, amassing a total of 152 yards with three touchdowns. Abu Sama III stood out with his agility and speed, contributing significantly with 52 rushing yards on just twelve carries and finding the end zone once. Carson Hansen also made his presence felt by scoring a touchdown despite limited yardage.

Receiving efforts were led by Gabe Burkle and Jayden Higgins, who combined for twelve receptions totaling 142 yards. Their ability to get open provided Becht reliable options downfield throughout the match.

Special teams played a crucial role as well; Kyle Konrardy was perfect on field goal attempts, including a long of 52 yards that added to Iowa State's momentum.

Defensive Standouts

The defense held strong against Cincinnati's attempts to rally back into the game. Malik Verdon made an impactful play by forcing a fumble which Tyler Onyedim recovered for Iowa State. This turnover was crucial in halting Cincinnati's momentum during one of their promising drives.

Despite not recording any sacks or interceptions, Iowa State’s defense consistently pressured Cincinnati’s quarterback and disrupted their offensive rhythm all night long. The defensive unit’s effort to contain Cincinnati contributed significantly to limiting them to only seventeen points.
