Clash at David Booth Memorial Stadium: Kansas Jayhawks Host Southeast Missouri State in College Football Showdown

As the Kansas Jayhawks prepare to host the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks at David Booth Memorial Stadium, fans are eager to see if the home team can continue their positive trend from last season. The Jayhawks, who played 12 games last season, showed a solid performance in various aspects of their game.

The red zone efficiency was a strong point for Kansas, with an impressive conversion rate of 84 percent. However, they will need to improve on converting third downs and fourth downs where they had success rates of 33 percent and 25 percent respectively. Their goal-to-go percentage stood at a respectable 64 percent.

In terms of scoring, the Jayhawks managed to secure a total of 29 touchdowns last season. The rushing game averaged about four yards per carry with their longest rush being a significant gain of 66 yards which also resulted in their longest touchdown. The receiving corps was reliable as well, averaging over ten yards per reception.

The passing game showed room for improvement with a completion percentage just shy of 60 percent and an average yardage that suggests they were more conservative in their aerial attack. Special teams had mixed results; while punting was fairly consistent with an average net yardage of over 37 yards, punt returns were less successful.

Defensively, Kansas demonstrated capability by accumulating a total of 28 sacks and securing ten interceptions throughout the season. Tackling was also strong with over six hundred tackles made by the defense.

With these statistics in mind, fans can expect Kansas to leverage its strengths such as red zone plays and defensive prowess while working on improving third-down conversions and expanding its passing game effectiveness against Southeast Missouri State.

The upcoming match is scheduled for September 2nd at David Booth Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, KS. Fans looking forward to catching all the action live can tune into ESPN CE on satellite channel number 788 for what promises to be an exciting college football encounter.
