David Booth Memorial Stadium Hosts Kansas Jayhawks vs West Virginia Mountaineers Football Face-Off

As the Kansas Jayhawks prepare to host the West Virginia Mountaineers at David Booth Memorial Stadium, fans are eager for a glimpse of what might unfold on the gridiron. The Jayhawks' recent performances have been a mixed bag, but there's reason to believe they could turn the tide in their upcoming encounter.

West Virginia Mountaineers VS Kansas Jayhawks

In their last game against Ohio Bobcats on September 16, KU fell short with a score of 30-42. Despite this loss, there were positive takeaways that could spell success against WVU. The offense managed to rack up an impressive 421 total yards with a balanced attack through air and ground. Passing was particularly effective; KU's quarterback threw for 343 yards and two touchdowns, completing nearly 64 percent of his passes.

The rushing game wasn't as dominant but still contributed significantly with over 100 yards and two touchdowns – one being an explosive 56-yard run straight into the end zone. This versatility will be crucial when facing WVU's defense.

However, it wasn't all rosy for KU; they allowed five sacks and had seven penalties costing them valuable yardage. These are areas that need tightening up if they hope to outplay WVU.

Looking back further to September 9 against Central Michigan Chippewas at home turf, KU scored fewer points (27) than in their most recent outing but showed resilience by scoring three rushing touchdowns. Their defense failed to record any interceptions or sacks which is something they'll need to improve upon when facing the Mountaineers' offense.

The season opener on September 2 saw a more favorable outcome for KAN with a win over Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (38-16). The passing game was electric; four touchdown passes highlighted their ability to strike from deep – something that would keep WVU's secondary guessing throughout the game.

KAN must capitalize on these strengths while addressing weaknesses like protecting their quarterback better and reducing penalties which have hindered them in past games.

Fans should expect an intense battle as both teams vie for victory. With home-field advantage and lessons learned from previous matchups, there is cautious optimism surrounding KAN’s chances of success against WVU.

Mark your calendars for September 23 at noon local time when these two teams clash at David Booth Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, KS. Fans can catch all the action live on ESPNU satellite channel 208 – it’s an event not be missed!
