David Booth Memorial Stadium Witnesses Kansas Jayhawks and Central Michigan Chippewas Gridiron Showdown

The Kansas Jayhawks faced a challenging game at David Booth Memorial Stadium, ending with a 2-1 record after succumbing to the Central Michigan Chippewas with a final score of 27-45. The Jayhawks' effort was not enough to overcome the offensive surge by the Chippewas, who improved their record to 2-1.

The home team's offense accumulated a total of 453 yards, with the passing game contributing 323 yards. Despite completing only half of their passes, the Jayhawks managed an average of over five yards per pass attempt. The rushing attack added another 147 yards to their total yardage, including a notable longest run that spanned for 33 yards resulting in one of their three rushing touchdowns.

On special teams, Kansas' kickers had mixed results; they successfully made two out of three field goal attempts with the longest being from 33 yards out. Their kickoff unit managed six kicks totaling an impressive distance of 372 yards and achieving touchbacks on half these occasions.

Defensively, while unable to secure any interceptions or sacks against their opponents, the Jayhawks did manage seven tackles for loss and recovered one fumble by the opposition. Penalties were nearly an issue as they accumulated nine throughout the game but stayed just shy of reaching significant penalty yardage.

Red zone efficiency was a bright spot for Kansas; they converted four out of five opportunities into scores when within striking distance. However, third-down conversions proved more difficult as they succeeded on only five out of eighteen attempts.

Looking ahead after this tough encounter at home ground in Lawrence city's David Booth Memorial Stadium (Lawrence KS), fans can catch The Kansas Jayhawks next facing off against Ohio Bobcats at Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium in Athens on September 16th at noon Eastern Time. This upcoming game will be broadcasted on ESPNU for supporters looking to follow The Jayhawks as they aim to bounce back from this setback.
