David Booth Memorial Stadium Witnesses Kansas Jayhawks Football Face-off Against Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Kansas Jayhawks' football season record now stands at 0-6 after a challenging game against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, which ended with a score of 19-65. The Red Raiders improved their record to 5-1.

In Lawrence, at the David Booth Memorial Stadium, the home crowd witnessed the Jayhawks put forth a resilient effort. Despite being outscored, there were notable performances from the Kansas side. The team's passing game accumulated 256 yards with an average of almost six yards per attempt and secured one touchdown through the air. The longest pass completion was for 41 yards, contributing to their nine first downs via passing.


On the ground, Kansas managed to rush for 112 yards over 33 attempts with an average of over three yards per carry and scored one rushing touchdown. Their longest run stretched for an impressive 45 yards. In terms of scoring efficiency in critical areas of the field, they achieved a perfect red zone percentage with three successes out of three attempts.


Special teams also played their part; two field goals were successfully made from two attempts, including one from beyond forty yards. Kickoff returns amassed a total of 119 yards on five returns.


Defensively, Kansas recorded three sacks totaling twenty-three lost yardage for Texas Tech and forced one fumble which they recovered themselves. They also intercepted a pass that was returned for two additional yards.


The Red Raiders demonstrated strong offensive capabilities throughout the game as well by putting up sixty-five points on board and amassing significant yardage both in air and on ground plays.


Looking ahead, fans can mark their calendars for when the Kansas Jayhawks will take on Iowa State Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames on October 14th at noon local time (11 AM Central).
