First Quarter

The game began with both teams showing strong defensive efforts. However, it was the Jayhawks who struck first. Jalon Daniels showcased his precision passing early on, connecting for two touchdowns in this quarter alone. The Bulldogs managed to respond with a touchdown of their own but were unable to keep pace as Kansas led 14-7 by the end of the first quarter.

Second Quarter

In the second quarter, Kansas continued to build on their lead. A crucial field goal by Laith Marjan extended their advantage further. The defense also stepped up significantly during this period; Kenean Caldwell's fumble recovery halted a promising drive from Fresno State. By halftime, Kansas had increased its lead to 24-7.

Third Quarter

The third quarter saw more dominance from Rock Chalk's defense as they shut down any attempts by Fresno State to close the gap. Leroy Harris III added pressure on Bulldog’s quarterback with a sack that resulted in significant yard loss for Fresno State. Meanwhile, Leshon Williams contributed offensively with an impressive rushing touchdown that pushed Kansas further ahead at 31-7.

Fourth Quarter

As both defenses tightened up in the fourth quarter, neither team managed additional points despite several attempts from each side. The Jayhawks' defense remained steadfast throughout; Devin Dye and Lyrik Rawls each recorded interceptions that thwarted any comeback hopes for Fresno State.

This comprehensive performance sets an optimistic tone for what lies ahead in Lawrence this season as fans eagerly anticipate future matchups after such an impressive opening display against formidable opponents like these Dogs!
