Can Maryland Terrapins' Late Surge Secure Victory Over USC Trojans?

The Maryland Terrapins edged out a narrow victory against the USC Trojans with a final score of 29-28, marking their record at 4-3 for the season. The game, held at SECU Stadium in College Park, saw an attendance of 43,013 fans who witnessed the Terrapins make a significant comeback in the fourth quarter.

Terrapins' Offensive Highlights


Maryland's offense was led by quarterback Billy Edwards Jr., who completed 39 passes out of 50 attempts for a total of 373 yards. Edwards Jr.'s performance included two touchdown passes and one interception, contributing to his impressive passer rating of approximately 150. His connection with wide receivers Kaden Prather and Tai Felton was particularly noteworthy. Prather racked up 111 receiving yards on nine receptions, while Felton added another touchdown alongside his nine receptions for 84 yards.


The ground game saw contributions from Nolan Ray and Roman Hemby. Ray led with an average of nine yards per carry over six attempts totaling to 54 yards but didn't find the end zone. Hemby, on the other hand, managed to score a rushing touchdown among his four carries.


Defensive Standouts


On defense, Caleb Wheatland and Ruben Hyppolite II stood out by each recording five tackles; Wheatland also contributed one tackle for loss among his efforts. Quashon Fuller made significant plays including sacking the quarterback once which resulted in an eight-yard loss for USC.


Special teams played their part as well with Bryce McFerson punting three times for an impressive average of over fifty-three yards per punt which helped in field positioning that was crucial down the stretch.
