The Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium witnessed an exceptional display of offensive firepower from the Memphis Tigers. The passing game was particularly lethal, with the quarterback achieving an outstanding passer rating of 225 and completing 70 percent of his passes for a total of 358 yards. Five passing touchdowns highlighted their aerial assault, including a remarkable longest completion that spanned 68 yards and culminated in one touchdown covering an impressive distance of 46 yards.

On the ground, the rushing attack added another dimension to their offense with a total gain of 112 yards on 34 attempts. Although not as explosive as their passing game, they managed to secure one rushing touchdown and five first downs through determined running plays.

Special teams also contributed significantly to the victory. The kickers were perfect on the day; field goal kickers made both attempts with one being from beyond thirty yards while extra point kicks were successful on all five tries. Kickoff units amassed an impressive total yardage count of over five hundred yards across eight kicks which included seven endzone kicks and five touchbacks.

Defensively, Memphis was just as dominant. They sacked Tulane's quarterback twice for a loss totaling twenty-three yards and recorded seven tackles for loss overall. The defense also proved opportunistic by intercepting three passes during the course of play which they returned for twelve additional yards.

Penalties could have been problematic but remained under control; although there were eight penalties called against them resulting in sixty-five penalty-yards assessed against them.

Looking ahead after this resounding victory, fans can anticipate another exciting game when Memphis Tigers travel to face Tulsa Golden Hurricane at Skelly Field at H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa on October twenty-sixth at six PM Central Time (CDT). This upcoming contest will be broadcasted live on CBS Sports Network via satellite channel two hundred twenty-one for fans unable to attend in person.
