At John O'Quinn Field at TDECU Stadium, home to the Cougars, the Memphis Tigers struggled to find their rhythm against a tough Houston defense. The Tigers managed to accumulate a total of 322 yards throughout the game but were hindered by two turnovers. Despite these setbacks, they showcased resilience in their red zone efficiency with a perfect success rate on all three attempts.

The passing game for Memphis was led by efforts that resulted in one touchdown and completions totaling 216 yards. However, they faced challenges as only two out of fourteen third-down attempts were successful and their completion percentage hovered around 48 percent. On the ground, they covered over 100 yards but failed to reach the end zone via rushing plays.

Defensively speaking, Memphis made some notable plays including two interceptions and returning them for a combined total of 25 yards. They also recorded two sacks on Houston's quarterback and defended two passes effectively during critical moments.

Special teams had mixed results; while one punt was blocked by Houston's special teams unit, Memphis did manage to score through both field goal attempts from within twenty-nine yards range.

Houston's performance was marked by strong offensive drives that led them to score twenty-one points in just one quarter alone. Their defense held firm too; limiting Memphis' third-down conversions significantly contributed to maintaining control over the game flow.
